For a thousand years the village of Kodakanchi — known to devotees as Telangana Kanchi — has sheltered the swayambhu form of Sri Adi Narayana Swamy, worshipped here with his consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi.
The temple stands on a granite hill above the village, its painted vimanam rising straight out of the boulders, with a stepped pushkarini, a great peepal tree and a lake beside it. On its wall are the golden and silver lizards that draw pilgrims here from across Telangana — for it is said that whoever cannot reach Kanchi should come to Kodakanchi.

The Golden & Silver Lizards
As at Kanchipuram, a golden lizard and a silver lizard are set upon the temple wall. Touching them is believed to free the devotee from all lizard-dosha and the troubles it brings.
Garuda on the Ground Floor
The idol of Garuda, the vahana of Sri Maha Vishnu, stands on the ground floor of the temple — the first darshan for every devotee.
Ten-Day Brahmotsavam
The annual Brahmotsavam runs for ten days from the first of February, with the Kalyanam of the Lord and his consorts on the fourth day.
A Temple on the Rock
The sanctum sits on a granite outcrop above the village, its painted vimanam rising directly out of the boulders.
Peepal Tree, Tank & Lake
