The temple's own signboard at the entrance names Sri Allani Ramoji Rao as Aalaya Founder Trust Chairman — the founder of the trust that cares for this thousand-year-old kshetram today.

His family name carries the temple's oldest memory. The founding tradition of Kodakanchi records that the Lord appeared in a dream to Ramoji Rao, a descendant of the Allani line, and told him that his idol lay in the forest of Mambapur. The people of the Allani clan brought the swayambhu murti from that forest and installed it on the rocky hill at Kodakanchi, where they performed the first worship. A thousand years later the same family still carries the responsibility.

The temple regained much of its former glory after a major renovation carried out in recent years, and it now receives thousands of devotees each year during the annual Brahmotsavam.

Family Legacy

A Thousand Years of the Allani Vamsam

At Kodakanchi the temple and one family have been bound together since the beginning — not for three generations, but for a thousand years.

It was to a son of the Allani line, Ramoji Rao, that the Lord is said to have appeared in a dream about a thousand years ago, directing him to the idol lying in the forest of Mambapur. The people of the Allani clan carried the murti to Kodakanchi, raised it upon the hill, and performed the first large-scale puja there. Everything that stands on this hillock today grew from that act.

The family has never let go of that duty. The temple's signboard names Sri Allani Ramoji Rao as Aalaya Founder Trust Chairman, and press coverage of the annual Brahmotsavam quotes temple trust chairman Sri Allani Raj Kumar on the arrangements made for the devotees' darshan — special buses from Patancheru, drinking water and health camps through the ten days of the festival.

Our Mission

Conduct the daily nitya puja and the festival calendar strictly according to the Vaishnava agama.
Preserve and restore the temple's stonework, sanctum and shrines with traditional materials and craft.
Provide clean, safe and dignified facilities for pilgrims.
Sustain annadanam and support for the poor of the surrounding villages.
Teach the young the chanting, music and rituals of the tradition.
Maintain transparent accounts of every contribution received.

Contributions

Contributions to Temple Development

Sanctum Renovation

Restoration of the garbhagriha and vimanam using traditional stone and lime work, with the samprokshanam performed on completion.

Garuda Shrine

Rebuilding and consecration of the Garuda shrine facing the sanctum, in keeping with agamic prescription.

Revival of Brahmotsavam

Restoration of the nine-day annual Brahmotsavam with its full sequence of vahana sevas and the Rathotsavam.

Annadanam Hall

Construction of a kitchen and dining hall so that prasadam and annadanam can be served to devotees on festival days.

Pilgrim Amenities

Queue lines, shaded waiting areas, drinking water, lighting, sanitation and parking for visiting devotees.

Veda Pathashala Support

Support for the training of young archakas and for the teaching of Vedic chanting to the children of the village.
